Fuel tax class action application deadline approaching

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to remind community members that on December 9, 2011 the Quebec Superior Court approved a settlement of the class action regarding fuel tax paid by registered Indians on reserve and that eligible persons have until July 8, 2013 to submit a claim. To date, approximately 25% of eligible persons have applied.

COLLECTIVA CLASS ACTION SERVICES has been mandated by the Superior Court to administer the claims of all registered Indians who are eligible for compensation. Please visit Collectiva�s website at www.collectiva.ca to obtain claim forms and for exact and accurate information on necessary documents required to submit a claim.

The MCK wishes to make it clear that this is in regard to the compensation from the settlement of the class action process only and not the �point of sale system�. This is not an MCK initiative.

Also note that this settlement is not related to the Kahnaw�:ke gas retailers case that is currently before the Quebec courts.
