Mercier Bridge works planned May 11th – 16th

05/09/2013

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform road-users that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated will proceed with the complete closure of the Route 138 up-ramp (towards Montreal) on Saturday, May 11th from 4am to 10pm. Vehicles will be re-routed via the Route 132 up-ramp to the bridge from the La Prairie direction.

This closure is necessary to carry out repairs on the access ramp’s roadway convergence section and will be integrated into the closure announced by the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) to repair the slab on the Montreal-bound Bridge - also requiring the closure of one lane out of two from 4am to midnight on Saturday, May 11th.

Further, the MTQ will also perform repairs to the lighting system each night from Saturday, May 11th to Thursday, May 16th. This will require the closure of one lane at a time in both directions between 9pm and 5am. Interruption of the lighting system may occur during this period.

During these closures road users are encouraged to use the Champlain, Victoria or Jacques Cartier Bridges, or the new section of AutoRoute 30 to get to the island of Montreal.

The MCK wishes to remind the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and the MCK does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
