Ban on open fires LIFTED

The Community Protection Unit (CPU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke, along with the Kahnawake Fire Brigade, would like to inform the public that the Ban on Open Fires has been lifted.

“There’s been enough precipitation within both Kahnawà:ke and Tioweró:ton to enable us to lift the ban,” said Director of CPU Kellyann Meloche. “We are also expecting more rain but we would still like the community to be diligent and ‘fire aware’ to protect our beautiful communities.”
