OCR rehabilitation project
05/14/2013
The Capital Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that rehabilitation work on the Old Chateauguay Road is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 21st and be continue through mid-October.
This project will include repairs to the existing water and sanitary sewer systems, installation of a new surface drainage system and concrete curbs. Upon completion of the works, the road will be resurfaced with new asphalt and a recreational path will be added. Proper signalization will be installed to warn of the construction limits. Throughout the work, residents in the area may be inconvenienced with temporary loss of water, dust and noise, detours and temporary road closures. Residents will be notified at least one day prior to having the water turned off. The community will also be notified when a road closure is scheduled.
During construction, alignment-pins will be installed (steel rods marked with orange ribbon) along the roadway. These pins do not indicate the edge of the new road. The new road edge is five feet from the pin, away from the property line. This means that during construction the roadway will appear wider than actually planned. At no point does the road infringe onto private property. All private properties that are affected by the work in this area (e.g. driveways, walkways, hedges and/or fences) will be repaired or replaced prior to the completion of the project.
Your patience throughout this project is greatly appreciated. Please contact the Technical Services Office at 450-635-1016 if further information is required.
