Housing Survey results presented to Council

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to release the results of the recent Housing Survey conducted by the Zarex Business Center from May 21 – 31, 2013. The official results were formally presented to Chief and Council on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
A total of 319 participated in the survey and the feedback gathered will assist Zarex in making recommendations to the MCK Housing Program. All comments given have been forwarded to Chief and Council and the Housing Department.
"The results will lead to the development of new products to allow Kahnawa’kehró:non to transition from social housing to home ownership,” said Housing Consultant Michael Rice. "In the long term and partnering with other organizations, this initiative will allow the community to have a complete range of housing services."
Zarex will begin making recommendations on Monday, June 17th at an official Council meeting. Further improvements to the MCK Housing Program developed will be announced as they become available.
The survey results are available for viewing at the reception desk of the Social Development Unit, the main MCK building or online at www.kahnawake.com.
Of note, the survey revealed overwhelming support to change the current MCK Housing loan program from $75,000 as it currently stands.
