Chiefs Kirby, Patton attending First Nations Education Council conference

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Education Portfolio Chiefs Rhonda Kirby and Bobby Patton will be attending the First Nations Education Council’s general assembly taking place today (Wednesday) and Thursday, 26 and 27 Ohiarí:ha/June in Val d’Or, Québec.

The main agenda item to be discussed is Canada’s proposed First Nations Education Act. Many First Nations leaders, communities and organizations are upset at the Federal government’s lack of consultation on the controversial legislation.

The Chiefs will return to the office on Friday.
