Mercier Bridge - Changes to Priority Bus Lane and Airlie ramp closure

07/19/2013

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is advising road users that The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated will make adjustments  to the current Priority Bus Lane within the detour leading to the Mercier Bridge. The new configuration becomes operational this weekend.

Buses heading to Montreal via the Mercier Bridge will be directed to the Route 132 east service road, then to the Adirondack Junction-Clay Mountains area. Buses will then use the traffic lights to access the Route 132 up-ramp (see map below). This should increase safety and better facilitate access for buses during the work BLITZ which continues until Monday, August 12th at 5am.

The new configuration will only affect the Priority Bus Lane and NOT regular traffic heading to the Montreal-bound Mercier Bridge. Motorists taking the detour between Route 138 and Route 132 will also enjoy more space approaching the traffic light at the intersection of Routes 138 and 132. Access to the bridge will remain restricted to one lane on La Prairie Ramp after the traffic light.

Please note, the Airlie ramp will be closed towards the South Shore this weekend, beginning tonight (Friday) at 9pm until Monday, July 22nd at 5am. Flagmen will be in place to let buses pass from 8am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
