New Stop Sign installed at CP Tunnel
08/06/2013
The Community Protection Unit (CPU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform all community members and road users that a New Stop Sign will be installed today at the west entrance to the CP Tunnel on the Old Malone Highway. The stop sign is an immediate measure to address safety concerns from community members. The CPU has been working on a long term plan to improve safety in and around the tunnel, including the installation of a convex mirror on the west side of the tunnel and measures (still to be determined) to mitigate potential hazards at the eastern entrance.
In the meantime road users are encouraged to use extra caution when passing through the tunnel and to be courteous to other drivers and pedestrians.
For more information on this plan, please contact Louis Stacey, Occupational Safety & Health Coordinator at the Community Protection Unit at 450-632-0635.
