Mercier Bridge work BLITZ extended by one week
08/08/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to advise road users that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated will extend the major work BLITZ on the Mercier Bridge by one week until Monday, August 19th at 5am.
Traffic will continue to be reduced to a single lane per direction during this period. Road users are encouraged to avoid the Mercier Bridge and keep up their new transportation habits for an additional week.
Trucks will once again be prohibited on the bridge towards Montreal during the morning rush hour from 5am to 9am, Monday to Friday.
The intensive work on the Mercier Bridge has progressed significantly and it should now be possible to complete all planned work on the Île Maline section towards Montreal (downriver bridge) and avoid nearly one month and a half of night and weekend closures. The additional week will also make it possible to complete this major portion of work before the start of the school year.
