Route 207 to be resurfaced
08/12/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) in conjunction with the Ministère des Transport du Quebec (MTQ) would like to advise residents and motorists of an upcoming project to improve safety on Route 207, mainly concerning the integrity of the road surface.
The complete resurfacing of the roadway is scheduled to begin on August 19, 2013 and last for approximately five weeks, weather permitting.
Resurfacing will take place between the area of the Route 138 overpass and Autoroute 30. In order to minimize disruption to traffic, all works will be carried out at night. Start times will be 8:30pm Sunday to Wednesday and 9:30 pm for Thursday and Friday. Work end times are 5:30am Monday to Friday and 8:00am on Saturday.
“We’re very pleased that this work will be completed before the fall,” said Transport Portfolio Chief Rhonda Kirby. “With the work being done at night, disruptions to the businesses in the area will be kept to a minimum and, more important, the road will be much safer for everyone.”
“We would like to add that this is only a temporary measure,” she added. “The total rehabilitation of the 207 is in the planning stages and is expected to occur in not too distant future.”
Local residents will be kept informed of any information or developments that are important to them.
