Vandals Targeting CPR Safety and Warning Equipment

Forwarded on behalf of the Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers
The Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers are asking residents to take extra safety precautions when using the level crossings over the CPR tracks, especially at night.
This call for added vigilance when traversing the tracks comes after the Peacekeepers received several complaints from CPR regarding vandalism to the warning lights at level crossings within the territory.
“This type of vandalism is certainly not a victimless crime,” said Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie. “Tampering with the warning lights at a level crossing could lead to an accident, which could result in serious injury or even a fatality,” added Zacharie.
The Peacekeepers have stepped up patrols around the level crossings, and are asking area residents to report any suspicious activity immediately.
Motorists and pedestrians who use the level crossings are being reminded to stop, look and listen before crossing the tracks.
Residents can call the Peacekeepers at 450-632-6505 to report any suspicious activity and/or damage to CPR’s safety and warning systems.
