Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission welcomes new Alternate Rep
09/13/2013
The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission would like to inform Kahnawakehró:non that Vernon Goodleaf has been selected as the new Alternate Community Representative on the Commission.
The decision was made at the KLCC meeting of Thursday, 12 Seskehkó:wa/September. Two people had applied for the position.
We are quite pleased that we had two solid candidates, said KLCC Coordinator Kahente Horn-Miller. We really appreciate that Vernon brings the perspective of younger community members. He is a member of the Kahnawą:ke Youth Forum, hes studying Political Science in University, and has often participated in past hearings, so we look forward to his input and ideas.
The previous Alternate Community Rep, Lori Jacobs, became a full member of the KLCC upon the resignation of Orenda Boucher-Curotte, who left due to work commitments in July. As the Alternate, Mr. Goodleaf will be eligible to attend all KLCC meetings and functions but will only have voting privileges in instances when the Community Rep is unable to attend meetings.
