Community Meetings to go bi-monthly on trial basis
09/24/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chief & Council have agreed to hold Community Meetings bi-monthly (every second month) on a six month trial basis.
For the past ten years Community Meetings were held on a seasonal basis (four times per year), though there were always provisions for extra meetings to be called should the need arise. In January of this year, Chief & Council agreed to go to a monthly meeting format on a trial basis, based on requests from some community members.
After evaluating this year’s meetings, it was felt that holding bi-monthly meetings answers the request to increase frequency in Community Meetings while addressing the reality of low attendance for the monthly meetings.
The next Community Meeting is scheduled for 12, Kentenhkó:wa/November.
