Chief Gina Deer attending conference with agenda to create Indigenous gaming association

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that Chief Gina Deer will be in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Wednesday and Thursday October 9 and 10 to participate in the �Creation of Wealth Forum� conference.

This is a follow up to the Forum held in June. This second Forum is focusing on creating an Indigenous gaming association for First Nations located in Canada. Presenters include the National (U.S.) Indian Gaming Association and the International Indigenous Gaming Association.

There will also be an overview on Canadian Gaming Law, which will include The Kahnaw�:ke Gaming Commission�s Legal Counsel, Murray Marshall, as one of the panelists.

�I am pleased that the organizers had the vision to bring together Indigenous gaming operators, Native political leaders and regulators to explore the possibility of bringing everyone together,� said Chief Deer, who holds the MCK�s gaming portfolio. �We�re always in a better position to make positive changes when we stand together. I�m looking forward to this conference.�

The conference is being hosted by the National Indigenous Council of Elders.
