Next Membership Law Community Consultation scheduled for November 5th
11/04/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that the 15th Community Consultation on proposed amendments to the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law will proceed on Tuesday, 5 Kentenhkó:wa/ November 2013 (tomorrow), due the postponement of another meeting using the Community Decision Making Process scheduled for that date.
“This gives us a chance to utilize an opportunity that would have otherwise been lost,” said Membership Portfolio Chief Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. “While it is somewhat short notice, we’re fairly confident that many of those who participated in the previous Consultation will be available to meet next week. There was some very good discussion and it would be in everyone’s best interest to reconvene while the information and ideas shared last week are still fairly fresh in everyone’s minds.”
The agenda is as follows: • Consultation will continue on the Role of the Registrar and, if consensus is reached, • Consultation will begin on the Definition for great-grandparent
The meeting will be held from 6 to 8:30pm at the Karonhianónhnha School gymnasium. Participants are strongly urged to arrive on time in order for the meeting to begin promptly.
