The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train makes its annual visit to Kahnawake
11/05/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that Canadian Pacifics Holiday Train will make its ninth visit to Kahnawą:ke in what has become an annual tradition in the community.
Beautifully decorated with thousands of colored lights, the train is scheduled to arrive at the Adirondack Junction around 6:45pm on Monday, 25 Kentenhkó:wa/November. There will be half-hour musical show featuring The Claytones, Roxanne Potvin, Willy Porter and Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Tracey Brown. Volunteers will be on site to accept donations and to distribute hot chocolate, hot dogs and glow sticks.
The Kahnawą:ke Christmas Basket Committee will be the recipient of monetary donations while food items will be donated to the Kahnawą:ke Food Bank from those attending the event and Canadian Pacific. Over the past decade the Holiday Train has raised well over $7 million and 3 million pounds of food for local food banks across North America.
To reduce traffic volume in the area, the MCK is encouraging the use of a free Shuttle Bus service provided. Two buses will depart from the town garage at 5:45pm to bring passengers to the Adirondack Junction and return after the event (see bus route on page 2). Visit www.kahnawake.com
for a map of the shuttle bus route.
