Consensus reached on Role of Registrar at Membership Law hearing
11/06/2013
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that consensus was reached on the issue of the Role of the Registrar at last night’s 15th Community Consultation on proposed amendments to the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law.
Once consensus was reached the Registrar gave a presentation on four possible options on the definition of great-grandparents. The final half-hour of the meeting was used to brainstorm and discuss this issue, with the two groups having no real intention of preparing a position. This will begin in earnest at the next session, which has not yet been scheduled.
Sixteen community members participated in the Consultation, which took place at the Karonhianónhnha School gymnasium.
