KEPO Shoreline Naturalization project - Volunteers needed
11/07/2013
The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) is pleased to announce that a Shoreline Naturalization event will be taking place on Friday, November 15th, starting at 10am. The event will involve planting one hundred trees and shrubs along the Recreation Path between Onake Paddling Club and the Turtle Bay Elders Lodge.
KEPO is looking for volunteers to help with tree planting. Gloves and materials will be provided and prizes will be available for participants. Volunteers should meet in the Johnson’s Beach area (look for the KEPO display table). Please dress for the weather.
Trees and other materials required for this event have been purchased through a grant received from the TD Friends of the Environment Fund.
Shoreline naturalization has many benefits; the roots prevent erosion, act as a vegetated buffer and can filter rainwater.
Additional information on this initiative can be obtained by contacting the Environment Protection Office at 450-635-0600. Please let us know if you are coming. It will help preparations.
