12/03/2013
The Language & Culture Training Center of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK), along with the Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center (KOR), would like to inform the community that they are working collaboratively to conduct a survey on the status of the Kanien’kéha language in our community.
A brief three question survey will be conducted over the telephone by five students from the Ratiwennahní:rats Program beginning today, Tuesday, December 3rd until Thursday, January 9, 2014 using the Kahnawà:ke Telephone Directory. The results of this survey will be used for a campaign that the two groups have been working on for future Kanien’kéha initiatives to increase fluency within the community. All Kahnawa’kehró:non are strongly urged to participate when called so that an accurate picture of the state of the Kanien’kéha language in Kahnawà:ke can be established.
