No Summer Turf at the Kahnawake Sports Complex
12/06/2013
The Sports & Recreation Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that the artificial turf on the playing surface used during the summer at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex (KSC) will not be used next year. The summer of 2013 was a trial period in which a community member loaned the carpet as part of the lacrosse season leading up to the President’s Cup tournament. "Although we thank the individual for his generosity, the decision was made not to install the carpet again in 2014," said Sports & Recreation Unit General Manager Mackenzie Whyte. "The decision took into account an analysis of many factors, including health and safety concerns, installation time, loss of revenue and the inability to use our facility for other sports and events while the carpet was in use.”
Sports league organizers and event promoters are invited to contact KSC Manager, Kenny Kane to learn about the venue’s services and availability for rental year round at (450) 638-3311.
