Weather caution for travelers

12/20/2013

The Community Protection Unit (CPU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is advising the community to be cautious of several weather systems that may make it difficult to travel during the beginning of this holiday season.

Today, an expected 10cm of snow will fall, which will gradually change to ice pellets or freezing rain by Saturday. The mix of snow and freezing precipitation will continue up until Sunday evening.

Wet and slippery conditions may cause hindrances on the roadway and motorists are urged to take caution while traveling.

Before venturing out, check the local short-term weather forecast and ensure you have a roadside kit in the case of an emergency.

For further information please contact the CPU at 450-632-0635.
