Home energy efficiency program available to low-income households
01/20/2014
The Housing Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is pleased to announce a home energy efficiency initiative called the ′Éconologis Program′ available to low-income households by the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources until February 28, 2014.
Homeowners or tenants may be eligible to receive free advice and possible services to help make their home more energy efficient by caulking and weather-stripping windows and doors, insulating electrical outlets on outside walls, installing low-flow showerheads and aerators on water taps and installing compact fluorescent light bulbs. A second component of the program offers the installation of electronic thermostats to a pre-existing system in compliance with the Quebec Building Code.
Eligible recipients must receive an energy bill for home heating in their name and meet the income threshold (see table below).
Though the program is offered by Quebec and is not an MCK initiative, the MCK Housing Department is offering to assist community members with the application process. For further details, contact Reva D′Ailleboust at the MCK Housing Department at 450-638-0500, the Ministry of Natural Resources directly at 866-266-0008 or visit them online at
