Suspension of landfilling still in effect

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to remind the public that there is currently a suspension of all landfill operations within the Territory. The MCK is still in the process of   conducting an investigation into actions and procedures related to such operations. As such, the Landfill Office remains closed while this takes place.

The investigation is being conducted to address allegations of possible unacceptable materials being brought onto the Territory, concerns about landfill spilling over onto adjacent properties and other compliance issues.

The MCK appreciates the community’s patience at this time. Kahnawa’kehró:non will be informed as soon as there are any developments in this matter.
