Flooded inaccessible roads in Tioweroton
04/16/2014
The Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community of flooded and inaccessible roads in the Territory of Tioweró:ton.
The second bridge on the main road is currently under water and is flooded up to the Oka Inn. The new bridge leading to the campground is also flooded.
All cabins beyond these points of flooding are inaccessible.
The frozen ground and snowbanks are preventing the high water level from receding on the road in that area. Until warmer weather allows for proper drainage, frequenters are advised not to travel to the Territory until the roads provide access to their cabins.
The caretakers are on-site looking at ways to address the issue and will notify the community once remedied. For further information on road conditions, please contact the Main Caretaker in Tioweró:ton at (819) 321-3375.
