Proposed Tobacco Law categorized Type II Urgent

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission wishes to inform the community that Chief and Council confirmed the recommended categorization for the proposed Kahnawą:ke Tobacco Law as a Type II Law with the addition that it is categorized as Urgent in nature.
As per the Community Decision Making Process, the submission was sent to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:kes Legal Services for this recommendation. The next step was the confirmation of this categorization by Chief and Council which took place on Tuesday, 20 Onerahtohkó:wa/May, 2014.
A series of Community and Stakeholder Consultations will now be scheduled to ensure the community at large understands the issue and has the opportunity to provide their input before it heads back to Chief and Council, where this information will inform their decisions regarding the mandate, scope, purpose and intent.
