Animal euthanized for biting incident

The Animal Protection Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community of actions taken against the dog responsible for biting a community member in the late hours of Tuesday, May 20th.
After several days in quarantine, the animal was euthanized earlier today with consent of its owner. The animal was never released from Animal Protection.
Urgent changes to the dog bite policy are currently being worked on and will be announced shortly. In the meantime, dog owners are urged to take responsible approaches when caring for their pets to prevent future incidents like this from re-occurring.
