Landfill Monitor hired on contract basis

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that Bruce McComber has been selected to the position of Landfill Monitor/Surveillance. He has been hired on a contract basis for the remainder of the 2014 calendar year.

This follows the recent appointment of Theresa Delisle as the Interim Landfill Coordinator and the development of interim measures that will allow for the impending resumption of landfill solely for personal and immediate residential development. Mr. McComber will work directly under the supervision of Ms. Delisle.

The MCK wishes to remind the community that no large-scale private projects will be permitted at the present time. No landfill is currently being accepted in the Territory (for greater clarity, this includes materials that may be purchased by the land owner). All requests for landfill must be made through the Interim Landfill Coordinator and all permits issued must be approved by the Landfill Authority, which is a separate body created and empowered to ensure better accountability.
