Local Contractors invited to observe new foundation system installation

The Capital Unit and Housing Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke are inviting local contractors and interested community members to observe the installation of a new Foundation System on the affordable rental units currently under construction as part of the Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation (CMHC) Section 95 Social Housing Program, Phase II.

The installation will take place this Friday, July 18th beginning at 7am.
 
The ′Legalett Air-Heated Floors & Frost Protected Shallow Foundation System′ is being incorporated as part of a pilot project undertaken by the Housing Department, and is new to the community. Contractors are invited to observe the process for installation of these foundation systems for potential installations in the future.
 
The Capital Unit began construction this spring on four, three bedroom rental units on common-land located in the �South Texas� area on Reserve Lots 106-7 & 14 and 111-16 & 19, all in Block G. The program was originally announced in May 2013 when the Housing Department received approval of the CMHC Section 95 Social Housing Program subsidy totaling $937,420. Four single bedroom units were constructed as part of Phase I.
