Possible bobcat or lynx sighting in rural area

08/04/2014

The Community Protection Unit (CPU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform residents that they have received a report of a possible bobcat or lynx sighting in the area of Hemlock Road off Route 207. The animal reportedly has large paws, pointy ears and is tan colored.

Parents in the area are asked to make their children aware and to be cautious, especially if they have younger children playing outdoors. The best way to prevent coming upon the animal is to make a lot of noise. If the animal is spotted, please contact the Kahnawake Peacekeepers immediately to investigate and document the sighting at 450-632-6505.

The CPU is monitoring the situation and will act in an appropriate manner if there are more reports by bringing in additional resources if necessary.
