Route 138 milling and resurfacing, September 14th

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to notify the Community of an upcoming project on Route 138. These works became a necessity to ensure the safety of all Kahnawa’kehró:non. The existing road surface of Route 138 will be milled and a new layer of asphalt will be installed, between the Mercier Bridge ramps and St. Francis Boulevard in Chateauguay.
Work will begin on Sunday September 14, 2014 and will be completed by the end of November 2014, weather permitting. These works will be carried out at night to minimize inconvenience to our Community members, and businesses. The work is schedule to take place from Sunday to Thursday. Working hours are Sunday to Wednesday from 8pm to 4:30am and Thursday from 10pm to 4:30am. The works will start at St. Francis Boulevard in Chateauguay. The work will be undertaken in three phases in an effort to localize and minimize any impacts, for more information on the phases refer to the map above.
Route 138 will be open to traffic throughout phase 1. One lane in each direction will be maintained in the work zone to accommodate vehicle traffic in both directions. Proper signalization will be placed to ensure everyone’s safety. Further information about traffic control for phases 2 and 3 will be notified as the work progresses to keep stakeholders informed at all times.
