The Housing Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke is pleased to announce an innovative program aimed at Kahnawą:ke single parents with children, which are a vulnerable sector of the community. The Home Ownership Program Enhancement (HOPE) is designed to help those community members achieve a better life for themselves and their children through a four year job readiness program featuring affordable housing, training/education and a home ownership savings plan.
HOPE is geared to individuals willing to work with Social Development Case Management; a collaboration between the Housing Department, Social Assistance Department, a Mentor chosen by the applicant and other partner organizations in order to identify a long term case plan toward achieving success.
Eligible applicants must:

- Be a single parent and have children under the age of eighteen (18)
- Not already own a house or have owned a house
- Be unemployed, or under employed
- Be willing to take an academic assessment and follow a comprehensive case management plan
- Be willing to enter a 2 year educational or vocational program

The intake process for eligible applicants begins on Monday, September 15th and ends on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
