Weekend closures on the Mercier Bridge, beginning 10pm Friday

09/11/2014

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) has been informed by the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated and Ministère des Transports du Québec that the Mercier Bridge will close one lane in each direction on the Mercier Bridge from Friday, September 12th at 10pm until Monday, September 15th at 5am.

The Route 132 up ramp (towards Montreal) and the Airlie on ramp (towards Kahnawà:ke), will be closed during the work. Detours to access the Mercier Bridge will be clearly marked.

The closure will allow for the JCCBI to carry out intensive reinforcement work on the steel structure of the Seaway section in preparation for rehabilitation of its concrete deck next year. The MTQ will replace structural elements under the bridge.

Motorists are urged to use the Champlain Bridge as an alternate route.

The MCK reminds the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
