Mercier Bridge evening closures begin tonight

09/29/2014

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) has been informed by the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated of evening lane and ramp closures on the Mercier Bridge from Monday, September 29th until Friday October 3rd.

The closures are as follows:

Monday, September 29th and Tuesday, September 30th from 9pm until 5am on both evenings: the Montreal-bound side of the bridge will be reduced to one lane and the Montreal-bound 132 up ramp will be closed.

Wednesday, October 1st (begins at 9pm) and Thursday, October 2nd (begins at 10pm) until 5am on both evenings: both directions of the bridge will be reduced to one lane and the Montreal-bound 132 up ramp will be closed.

For all ramp closures, motorists coming from La Prairie will be detoured to the service road towards Route 138 and utilize a marked turn-around at the traffic lights by the Kahnaw:ke Sports Complex.

Please note: the detour enters the 138 Re-surfacing Project work zone where milling and re-asphalting of the road base is taking place and lanes are reduced to one lane in each direction.

The MCK reminds the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
