Chiefs in Quebec City for presentation to Native Affairs Minister today

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. and Economic Development Portfolio Chief Gina Deer will be in Quebec City this afternoon for a presentation to be made to Quebec Native Affairs Minister Geoff Kelley.

Tewatohnhi’saktha will be making the presentation on economic development and social policy.

 “We feel it’s important that the Minister be given a snapshot of our current economic situation, what our needs are, and our view for the future,” said Grand Chief Delisle. “We’ve had a positive relationship with Quebec over the past few months. There are opportunities that exist that could see both Kahnawà:ke and the neighboring communities enjoying benefits, and the more we understand each other the easier it is to work together.”

The chiefs will return to the office tomorrow (Thursday).
