Tobacco trade main agenda item for Iroquois Caucus meetings

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to advise the community that three chiefs will be attending the upcoming two-day meeting of the Iroquois Caucus being held in Tyendinaga tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday.
The issue of the tobacco trade, specifically the C-10 ‘anti-contraband tobacco’ amendment to the Canadian Criminal Code, will be a main agenda item on Thursday. Other agenda items include education; Iroquois Caucus free trade; border crossing; taxation; and other Iroquois Caucus business.
Chiefs Martin Leborgne and Bobby Patton will be in attendance both days, while Chief Gina Deer will be present for the tobacco trade discussions on Thursday.
The Iroquois Caucus consists of the elected Councils from Akwesá:sne, Kahnawà:ke, Kanehsatà:ke, Six Nations, Tyendinaga, Wahta, and the Oneida of the Thames.
