Mercier Bridge lane closures Kahnawake-bound

12/08/2014

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) wishes to inform road users of upcoming lane closures on the Mercier Bridge by the Ministre des Transports du Qubec for rehabilitation work on the lighting system and for steel work. All work and closures will impact Kahnaw:ke-bound traffic only.

Wednesday, December 10th from 10:30pm to 5am - Complete closure of the down ramp towards Chteauguay (138/132 west) and the closure of one lane on the down ramp in the La Prairie direction (132 east) for signalization work on both.

Thursday, December 11th from 10pm to 5am - One Kahnaw:ke -bound lane of the Bridge will be closed for preparatory work.

10pm Friday, December 12th, to 5am Monday, December 15th - Complete closure of both Kahnaw:ke -bound lanes of the Bridge. No traffic towards the South Shore. Both Montreal-bound lanes will be open.

This one direction only configuration will ensure road users safety in case of bad weather and will facilitate snow removal and de-icing operations that might be required. These operations cannot be properly performed when the bridge is re-configured to one lane in each direction, due to the reduced width of the lanes, which is inadequate for snow removal vehicles.

Other lane closures might be necessary for such work in the coming weeks.

The MCK reminds the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
