MCK Housing announces ‘Rent to Equity’ program
01/21/2015
The Housing Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce an exciting new Rent to Equity housing program that will allow qualified participants to rent one of four brand new three bedroom homes while saving for a mortgage down payment for future home ownership. The program is intended for lower-to middle income Kahnawa’kehró:non who might otherwise find it impossible to make the necessary down payment on a mortgage loan. A hallmark of the program is a scheduled savings component for the participant that the MCK will match equal to 50% of the contribution to facilitate accumulation of the necessary funds to enter the housing market.
“Rent to Equity is the latest innovative program added to MCK’s Housing portfolio and we are really excited to be able to offer this to our community members,” said Housing Department Manager Iris Jacobs. “Our goal is to provide all Kahnawa’kehró:non with housing options that will meet their particular needs.”
Certain criteria apply for qualified participants. Find out full details by contacting the MCK Housing Department at 450-638-0500. Applications will be accepted from Friday, January 23 to Monday, February 23, 2015.
