Meeting today with Aboriginal Affairs Deputy Minister regarding Kahnawake/Canada Relations, Seigneury

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr., Intergovernmental Affairs Portfolio Chief Lloyd Phillips and Chief of Staff Mike O’Brien will be in Ottawa to attend a high-level meeting with Federal officials.
The three will meet with Aboriginal Affairs & Northern Development Canada’s Deputy Minister Coleen Swords, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister Joe Wilde and Director General Michael Nadler at 3pm today. The meeting is scheduled for one hour.
On the agenda are two items: Kahnawà:ke/Canada Relations (K/CR) and the Seigneury of Sault St. Louis.
In regard to K/CR, the discussions will revolve on the renewal of the process that began two years ago, which is currently focused on Membership and Lands issues. The initial K/CR agreement expires next month.
On the topic of the Seigneury, the MCK will update/inform the officials on the progress of the file.
