Reminder - Both Kahnawàke-bound lanes closed this weekend on Mercier Bridge
02/20/2015
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to remind road users that the Ministère des Transports du Québec will completely close both Kahnawà:ke-bound lanes of the Mercier Bridge this weekend for repairs to the structural elements.
The closure will take place from Saturday, February 21st at 2am until Monday, February 23rd at 5am, effectively halting traffic flow towards the south shore all day Saturday and Sunday. Both Montreal-bound lanes will remain fully open.
The same closure has also been scheduled for the weekend of Friday, February 27th to Monday, March 2nd.
This one way configuration is necessary to facilitate safe snow removal and de-icing operations in case of bad weather. These operations cannot be properly performed with contraflow traffic because the width of the lanes is not adequate for snow removal vehicles.
The MCK reminds the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
