Kateri Hospital construction begins Thursday, March 19th - partial road closure required
03/12/2015
The Community Protection Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke has been informed that preliminary work on the Kateri Memorial Hospital Expansion and Renovation project will begin Thursday March 16, 2015.
With the commencement of construction, it is anticipated that delivery of heavy equipment and supplies may temporarily disrupt normal traffic. Therefore, authorization has been given to have a section of Rabaska Road closed to the general public during the construction period (see map).
The Peacekeepers and Fire Brigade have been consulted and measures have been taken to guarantee access for emergency vehicles at all times. As a preventative safety measure, the construction site will be fenced off with a flagman present during work hours.
Arrangements have also been made that will allow access to a single residence, and looking ahead to Powwow Weekend, the plan is to ensure that the road will be temporarily re-opened during this important weekend.
The construction team will make all efforts to reduce the inconvenience caused but the understanding and patience of community members is being requested. Drivers and pedestrians are also urged to be extra attentive in the area.
Questions and concerns can be directed towards the Community Protection Office at (450) 632-0635.
