The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chief Lloyd Phillips is in Québec City today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) to attend the special Assembly of First Nations of Quebec & Labrador (AFNQL) ‘Special Chiefs Assembly.’
“The sole topic on the agenda is the relationship between First Nations and Quebec,” said Chief Phillips, who attends AFNQL meetings on behalf of the MCK. “It will be a good opportunity for me to assess Kahnawà:ke’s relationship with the province, and to discuss various concerns and ideas with the chiefs.”
The Chiefs will meet with Minister of Native Affairs Geoffrey Kelley this afternoon in preparation for a meeting between the AFNQL and Premier Phillipe Couillard, planned for late April.
Chief Phillips will return to the office on Monday, 30 Enniskó:wa/March.
