Long-term Monitoring in the Recreation Bay

05/07/2015

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to inform community members that monitoring equipment has been installed in the Recreation Bay to measure the flow and amount of sediment that passes through the bay. The data is being collected to determine the optimum solution for Recreation Bay.

Monitoring will take place over two month-long periods; the first from May 6th – June 6th, and the second in the fall. The area where monitoring is taking place is marked by buoys in the bay. Please avoid disturbing these buoys so that accurate measurements can be taken.

This work is part of the 2015 Recreation Bay Modeling Project by KEPO to investigate alternatives for cleaning up the Recreation Bay area (aka Johnson’s beach).

Please call KEPO at 450-635-0600 with any questions.
