Severe thunderstorm watch in effect today

The Community Protection Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to inform the community that Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region, including Kahnaw�:ke, for early afternoon today (Wednesday).

During the thunderstorm, there are possible developments of strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. As a caution, severe thunderstorms may produce tornadoes.

To prevent flooding from heavy rain, please ensure your household has eave drainage pointed away from the house and that the sump pump is in working order. A backup battery sump pump also helps, should there be a power outage.
