Chief Christine Zachary-Deom apologizes to community in response to formal complaint
06/01/2015
Chief Christine Zachary-Deom wishes to advise the community that she is abiding by the Act of Censure passed against her by Chief and Council in regard to complaints made against her in relation to her position on the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law. The Act of Censure is in the form of an apology to the community, as follows:
“I have always supported Mohawk Law, both in my practice and in my life, and I will continue to do so. If my answers to the community in regard to my position on the Membership law have been obscure or unclear, I apologize for the lack of clarity. It is my responsibility to make better efforts to make myself understood.
For further clarity, the amendment process in regard to the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law opens the door for further discussions on changes, and that process is on-going.
Respectfully submitted,
Chief Christine Zachary-Deom”
