Upcoming works on Water Distribution Network
06/04/2015
The Capital Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke would like to notify the Community of upcoming works to locate existing water leaks on the Centralized Water Distribution Network. Work is schedule to begin on Monday, June 8th and last approximately ten weeks.
Presently the Kahnawą:ke Water Treatment Plant is producing a higher amount of water than usual. It is suspected that leaks are the cause of the increase in water production. The objective of the project is to locate the leaks and repair them. This affects all residences connected to the centralized water distribution network.
Capital crews will be closing 30 valves within the Territory to help identify any problematic areas to narrow down the search zone.
The work will be undertaken in two phases:
- Phase I: Verification of the working conditions of the valves to be closed. During this time short water shut-offs of 15 to 30 minutes will be experienced. The short water shut-offs will take place from Monday to Friday between 9am to 11:30am and 1pm to 3pm, and last two weeks,
- Phase II: Closure of valves for eight weeks. During this time the water supply will not be affected.
Your patience throughout this project is greatly appreciated and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience. If further information is required, please contact the Technical Services Office at (450) 635-1016.
