Native Affairs Minister Kelley meets with MCK on Highway 30 lands issue

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chief & Council are meeting with Qu�bec Native Affairs Minister Geoffrey Kelley this afternoon to discuss the issue of Highway 30 lands.

�We need to sit together to find a solution to this problem,� said Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. �I�m pleased that Minister Kelley has agreed to meet with us in such a timely manner.

�The return of these so-called �good faith� lands shouldn�t be dictated by the bad faith being shown by the surrounding municipalities and their lawsuit against the province,� he added. �Business opportunities are slipping away because of their delay tactics.�

Today�s meeting will be held in Kahnaw�:ke.
