08/18/2015
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chief & Council are meeting with Québec Native Affairs Minister Geoffrey Kelley this afternoon to discuss the issue of Highway 30 lands.
“We need to sit together to find a solution to this problem,” said Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. “I’m pleased that Minister Kelley has agreed to meet with us in such a timely manner.
“The return of these so-called ‘good faith’ lands shouldn’t be dictated by the bad faith being shown by the surrounding municipalities and their lawsuit against the province,” he added. “Business opportunities are slipping away because of their delay tactics.”
Today’s meeting will be held in Kahnawà:ke.
