09/17/2015

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise Kahnawa’kehró:non that Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton and Chief Martin Leborgne are confirmed to attend next week’s Iroquois Caucus meetings being held at Wahta Mohawk Territory on Tuesday, September 22nd  and Wednesday, September 23rd.

The tentative agenda includes, among other topics, 1) Tobacco, 2) Taxation Summit, 3) Language Summit, 4) Free Trade Memorandum of Understanding, 5) Economic Summit, 6) Education Summit and, 7) Iroquois Caucus Consultation Policy.

“I am planning to take a very active role in the Caucus over the next three years,” said Grand Chief Norton. “These are critical times in our history, and we need to make sure we work together and keep each other informed at all times. The Caucus is a good forum for this.”

The Chiefs will be back in the office on Thursday, September 24.

The Iroquois Caucus consists of elected Councils from Akwesasne, Kahnawà:ke, Kanesatake, Tyendinaga, Wahta, Six Nations and the Oneidas of the Thames.
