Agenda set for next Amendments to Membership Law meeting this Tuesday, October 13th

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to remind the community that the next meeting on proposed amendments to the Kahnaw�:ke Membership Law will be held this coming Tuesday, 13 Kent�nha/October 2015 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, from 6pm to 8:30pm.
The agenda will include the following:
- Section 7, the Approved Kahnaw�:ke Resident List. This section establishes that there will be a list, which is being renamed from the former �Non-Member Resident List.� The amendments being proposed in this section are only minor. Please note that this is NOT the section that sets out who is eligible to be on the list � this will be covered in Section 15, which will be addressed in a future meeting.
- Section 8, Council of Elders. It is being recommended that this section be deleted, as per the direction given by the community.
- Section 4, Definitions (on-going). Any related definitions from the meeting�s agenda.
�We are hoping that we can move through the agenda as efficiently as possible,� said membership Portfolio Chief Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. �If we can gain consensus on the issues like we did at the previous meeting in September then I think everyone will feel a sense of accomplishment.�
The proposed amendments are available for viewing at the Kahnaw�:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission website at www.kahnawakemakingdecisions .
The upcoming meeting will be the fourth meeting of the current phase (technically entitled �First Hearing�), which began on April 14 of this year.
