First four sections of proposed Kahnawake Tobacco law passed at CDMP First Hearing

The Kahnaw�:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission would like to inform the community that the first four sections of the proposed Kahnaw�:ke Tobacco Law passed by consensus at last evening�s inaugural meeting of the First Hearing phase of the Community Decision Making Process.
The sections of the law passed included Jurisdiction, Paramountcy, Intent & Purpose and Scope. The first three sections passed within thirty minutes. Consensus was reached on Section #4 (Scope) after an hour of discussion and debate. With the completion of the agenda, the meeting was closed at 7:50pm.
Over fifty (50) community members participated, with approximately ten further people sitting as observers.
The next meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, 24 Kentenhk�:wa/November 2015 at the Knight of Columbus Hall. The formal agenda will be announced shortly.
