Reminder - Membership Law meetings resume this Thursday evening

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to remind Kahnawa’kehró:non that the next meeting on proposed amendments to the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law will be held this Thursday, 12 Kentenhkó:wa/November 2015 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, from 6pm to 8:30pm.
The agenda is as follows:
- Section 7, the Approved Kahnawà:ke Resident List. This section establishes that there will be a list, which is being renamed from the former ‘Non-Member Resident List.’ The amendments being proposed in this section are only minor. Please note that this is NOT the section that sets out who is eligible to be on the list – this will be covered in Section 15, which will be addressed in a future meeting.
- Section 8, Council of Elders. It is being recommended that this section be deleted, as per the direction given by the community.
- Section 4, Definitions (on-going). Any related definitions from the meeting’s agenda.
Consensus has been reached on the first six sections (with the exception of Section 4, which is on-going throughout the process). This is the fourth meeting of the current phase (technically entitled ‘First Hearing’), which commenced on April 14th of this year.
